On Sunday, 01-24-2010 , stop by the MUCH LOVE ANIMAL ADOPTION CLINIC. Located in the parking lot of Lost Planet Production Co., and next door to Novel Cafe, MUCH LOVES adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 2515 Main Street in Santa Monica, 1/2 block north of Ocean Park Blvd. The animals you’ll meet are a sight to see and the people-watching isn’t bad either.

My name is Buddah and I am a 6 year-old American Bulldog Mix. I'm a big boy who loves people, children, my rope, and lounging around. I’m a little quirky, aren’t we all? With that being said, I enjoy hanging out near air-conditioning vents. I am extremely well-mannered indoors and I'm completely house-trained. .

Please give me a forever home!!!
Buddah is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Ace of Hearts rescued Beckham, an American Bulldog/Hound mix, after he was seized by Animal Control. This poor, sweet guy had been totally abandoned with 5 other dogs at a home that had gone into foreclosure. They were chained in the mud 24 hours a day, with no food or water! As a result of his traumatic experience, Beckham has severe separation anxiety and doesn't want to be left alone for even a minute. He's SO loving and thankful to be around people, that he will climb right up into any lap that will have him! Beckham needs some special rehabilitation and some time to learn that he'll never be abandoned like that again, and that it's ok to be left alone.

We happened to stop by a dog shelter on the day the King Kong DVD was released. There had just been 4 pitbull puppies dropped off, and after having rescued another pitbull 5 years earlier, we thought we'd get her friend. We decided to adopt the smallest of the 4 and named him Kong. We had no idea what was in store for us, as he was a small puppy and our other pitbull is small at about 45lbs. Kong quickly grew to 40lbs, then 60lbs, and has now topped off at about 75lbs. As a puppy, he looked like a pitbull, but now, as he has grown, it is obvious that he has some Black or Chocolate Lab in him as well. We've also been told that he looks like he could have some Great Dane in him... that'd explain his height. He's been a great dog, he's got the strength of a pitbull and the temperament of a lab.

LUCA AND FARLY

We found

Luca (gold - we believe a retriever/vizsla/hound mix of some kind) through a rescue agency called Karma Rescue. She was 6 months old, skinny and had tremendous anxiety. She had been abandoned in an empty apartment and is believed to have been abused. We knew immediately that she was our dog. She's now 6 and is at the center of our family. We have 3 kids, but Luca will always be our first. A few years ago, she saved me from being bitten by a rattlesnake on a mountain hike (was bitten herself and barely survived). Each day, she guards our house, is the den mother to our kids and loves us as much as we love her. We found Farley (black - shepherd mix) through Mutts & Moms, a Pasadena rescue group, about 6 months after we rescued Luca. Farley was only 8 weeks old and on the verge of being put down due to kennel cough. She was magnetic from the start. We brought her home and after watching her slide on the hard woods head first into walls and continue, unfazed, we named her accordingly - for her unrivaled physical comedy. She has grown up (sort of), is 5 years old now, but still has boundless energy, ridiculous hops and acts like a puppy...for better or worse. She is a truly loyal, loving dog. She and Luca are a couple of goons who wrestle non-stop, hopelessly hunt squirrels and sneak onto our bed in the middle of the night. They've impacted our lives on so many levels and changed them forever.

MALIFE

Malife was rescued by Courtney and Matt in November 2008. Malife found himself, fist named Oreo, at Boston Terrier Rescue. He had been abandoned with a broken leg, which set itself in the opposite direction. He was first thought to have an amputation, but the great people at Boston Terrer Rescue disagreed with amputation, and paid for Oreo to get an operation to reset the leg in its proper position. The operation was a success. Now Malife can run even faster than her new sister, Machu Pichu, a Boston Terrier who has been with US for 5 years. Malife is happy and healthy, and enjoys sun, snuggle times and play most. We assume his age is no more than two years, and a DNA test proved him to be a mix of Shitu and Miniature Pincher. Shitsu? Go figure....

THE CAPTAIN

The Captain was about 3-4 months old when a friend of a friend found him wondering in the Santa Clarita Canyons. The German Shephard/Chow mix. He was skin and bones, and covered in ticks and bug bites. They took him home, cleaned him up, pulled all the ticks out of him, and got him healthy, then started to look for an owner. He still has some scars where some of the ticks burried into him when he was a pup.

I didn't want a long haired dog because of all the shedding, but after hanging out with him for a day I couldn't let him go. He is the most loyal and friendly dog to humans.

THE GENERAL

The General was rescued from a pound in L.A., CA. When I first got him, he was a 40 pounds lil poopy with gigantic paws. Now he is a full grown 100 pound beast. The General is now 3 years old and full of life. I could not imagine what our lives would be without this guy.
